How would you like the chance to win a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate or Office 2010 from Microsoft? Well if you support the Microsoft Project Phoenix than you could be in with a shot.
Microsoft has kicked off its fifth installment of the Windows Recession Sweepstakes, dubbed “Flying Day”. It’s named after an unusual Microsoft project, one involving flying and building aircraft, something we don’t normally associate with the Redmond crew.
“On August 21, 2010, in Long Beach, CA, marketing manager Ali Driesman will pilot the Windows Phoenix (our 75-pound flying machine) in Red Bull Flugtag,”
revealed Microsoft’s Ashley Brown.
Red Bull Flugtag, which takes place this year in Long Beach, Miami, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Philadelphia, is an event where everyday people can try and emulate Leonardo da Vinci and design a flying machine. Craft are judged not only the distance flown, but creativity and showmanship as well,
Microsoft are looking for you to support their Flugtag effort by following them on Facebook and another way is to to leave them a comment with what you think of Project Phoenix.

So in order to be in with a chance to win some of the prizes Microsoft has lined up, you have to comment on this post on the Windows Team Blog
And those prizes that are on offer? Well they include no less than “Ten (10) Grand Prizes. A Prize Package consisting of the following items: one (1) copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. Approximate Retail Value (ARV) $319.99; one (1) copy of Office Home & Student. Approximate Retail Value (ARV) $149.99; one (1) 16 GB Zune HD Digital Media Player. Approximate Retail Value (ARV) $199.99. The total Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of this Package is $669.97.”
However, this offer is only open to residents of the United States, but still it’s interesting and slightly odd that Microsoft are entering such an event, it’s not the usual we’ve come to expect from them.
